What colleagues, clients and collaborators have said about working with me.
People I Led

Brad Bice
Principal Product Designer, Design System — Pluralsight
Reported to me directly
Tim hired me in 2022 to join the Pluralsight design system team. Over the years that followed, we renamed it the Pando Design System and evolved it from an open-source “solve everything” project into an inner-source system focused squarely on Pluralsight. Tim championed Pando as a platform-agnostic presentation layer that could work with any programming language, be themed and extended easily, and be as highly accessible as possible out of the box.
The journey wasn’t without challenges, including a few early team dynamics that didn’t quite click. But Tim has an eye for talent and culture: he went on to hire some truly excellent people for both the design system (a wonderful senior engineer) and the broader Design Ops team (a fantastic product designer), and they’ve not only pushed our work forward but strengthened the culture of empathy and connection at Pluralsight.
Pluralsight has faced extreme headwinds over our time together, including financial downturns across the tech sector and an AI boom that has both threatened and reshaped our work. Through all of it, Tim has been a steadfast leader who puts people first, ensuring a safe culture of belonging and understanding for all of his direct reports.
“I originally joined Pluralsight because of the quick connection I made with Tim, choosing his team over offers from Paramount+ and others.”
On a personal level, Tim always made sure I felt heard, supported, and championed. He gave me the time I needed, whether through a quick Slack message, a weekly 1:1 Zoom, or a phone call when things got tough. He’s deeply knowledgeable about the Design Ops and Design Systems spaces, often speaking as an expert on both, but he always came from a grounded perspective rooted in what’s realistic and what’s most beneficial for our human customers.
I originally joined Pluralsight because of the quick connection I made with Tim, choosing his team over offers from Paramount+ and others to work on their design systems. He’s also a very large part of why I’ve stayed through a lot of adversity. Tim provided a level of trust, emotional safety, and psychological security I haven’t really found elsewhere in my career. He’s unique in how he can hold onto fundamental, traditional beliefs while still being savvy to the contemporary technologies and processes of present-day corporate America.
I would work on any team of Tim’s again in a heartbeat. I fully recommend him as a people leader, as an expert in his space, and as an overall great human.

A leader is not just someone who tells you what to do, pushes deadlines, or reinforces mandates. A truly good leader makes you feel heard and seen. They advocate for you in rooms you are not in. They create trust, safety and space for people to grow into the best versions of themselves.
Tim Roberts is that kind of leader.
“He fought for his team. He listened. He trusted people.”
Tim consistently led with empathy, humility, and genuine care for the people around him. He always approached leadership not from a place of authority, but from a place of service, asking what he could do to better support his team, remove friction, and help people succeed.
One of the things I respected most about Tim was his ability to balance humanity with clarity. He could navigate ambiguity, difficult conversations, shifting priorities, and organizational complexity without making people feel diminished in the process. Even in high pressure situations, he made people feel valued.
He fought for his team. He listened. He trusted people. And because of that, people wanted to do great work alongside him.
I am incredibly grateful to have worked with and learned from Tim. Any organization would be lucky to have a leader like him.
I have no doubt he will continue making a meaningful impact wherever he goes next.

Director of Product Design — Pluralsight

I first truly got to know Tim after a re-org, when he became my 6th manager in 3 years. During that time I found myself appreciative of his constant grounded nature and levelheadedness, as well as his support with my career growth and promotion.
He was rigorous about maintaining design system standards even when timelines and resourcing were tight, and he worked tirelessly advocating for design system adoption with engineering. While his strategic persistence was impressive, even more so were the relationships he developed with his team. He made a real effort to see and hear the people who reported to him, understand what they needed, and support them in doing their best work.
“I’d absolutely recommend Tim to anyone looking for a leader who brings both rigor and humanity to the work.”
I’d absolutely recommend Tim to anyone looking for a leader who brings both rigor and humanity to the work, who can hold steady when things are changing, and who genuinely invests in the people around him.

Tim is a talented and dedicated leader who balances deep strategic patience with profound, genuine empathy. I had the privilege of first reporting to him, and later collaborating closely with him as the engineering lead for our design system while he served as Director of Product Design, overseeing the broader organization and leading the system’s global adoption. It was a massive undertaking, made all the more complex by adoption paths spanning global time zones, constant leadership turnover, and rapidly shifting priorities.
Though our design system team faced many waves of uncertainty, Tim was a calm and steady presence. He is an excellent design leader who understands the complexities and overlaps of engineering and design. What I appreciate most about Tim, though, is how deeply he cares for the people around him.
“He builds genuine community where others might just see a workforce.”
During really challenging times, he always put our well-being first, supporting us with true kindness and a listening ear. He is a natural unifier who brings people together and builds genuine community where others might just see a workforce. He isn’t just a manager of projects; he is a champion for his people, and working with him was a gift. This kind of skill has always been important, but especially in the present time of extreme and rapid change, would be invaluable to keep teams working together and moving forward.
Senior Leadership

River Brandon
VP of Product & Design – Pluralsight
I reported directly to River
Tim is a thoughtful, empathetic leader who always put his team first in our time working together. He consistently focuses on the potential of team members, and works to find the right opportunities for people to grow and become more effective. He was a calm and steady presence at Pluralsight, in an environment that was undergoing a lot of change and disruption during our time working together. I observed Tim handle multiple challenging situations with directness and sensitivity, helping individuals and teams that were struggling to work together or adjust to changing circumstances.
“A calm and steady presence in an environment undergoing constant change and disruption.”
Tim also has a depth of experience in standing up and growing design system efforts, which means he brings a great wealth of knowledge about the functioning of shared design infrastructure. He understands the strategic importance of investing in that operational layer, while keeping the focus on the value and outcomes it creates for the team and the wider organization, rather than seeing it as an end in itself.
Tim would be a great addition to a design org that needs to strengthen that kind of foundational capability, while navigating change and uncertainty with a calm, people-focused approach. And what organization doesn’t need more of that these days?

Amy Dredge
VP of Technology Center of Excellence – Pluralsight
I reported directly to Amy
Tim is a steady force for good. I watched him lead Design Ops amid many changes and uncertainty. Everyone on his team – and many people not formally on his team – looked to Tim for direction. Direction about what to prioritize, how to build buy-in across reporting lines and functions, and direction about how to navigate uncertainty and remain focused.
Tim built community among Product Designers, giving them an identity in the broader organization that had been lost. As the leader of the Design System, he built community across Engineering, Product, and Design.
“I could always trust Tim to ask me important questions and take initiative with or without answers.”
Tim is an intentional leader with a drive to do work that matters now, and matters even more down the road. He is your leader to build the foundation upon which an organization and product can scale.
Peers & Partners

Bryon Stuefer
Product Designer — Pluralsight
Peer; I was senior to Bryon but didn’t manage him directly
I wasn’t lucky enough to report directly to Tim, but I was lucky enough to work alongside him.
“His passion for building great things is contagious, and any team would be better with him on it.”
No matter your role or title within the company, Tim had a way of making you feel like a peer – someone whose perspective mattered. Whether you needed feedback, advice, or just a casual conversation, he was always approachable, thoughtful, and full of ideas.
He also has a real gift for delivering feedback. Tim is constructive, encouraging, and always grounded in a sincere desire to help people grow and succeed — whether they were on his team or not.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked with and learned from Tim, and I’d love for our paths to cross again someday. His passion for building great things is contagious, and any team would be better with him on it.
He’s an exceptional collaborator, leader, and visionary.

Krista Priore
Entrepreneur | Founder | Global Sourcing | Supply Chain
Peer; I worked with Krista at Webster Bank, different teams
I worked alongside Tim for nearly four years at Webster Bank, including on the largest, longest-running initiative the bank took on during that time. Tim brought a rare combination to cross-functional work: real design expertise, the judgment to know when the plan needed to bend and the genuine desire to understand other functional needs to achieve success. When timelines shifted or requirements changed mid-stream, and they did, often, Tim was the steady presence in the room.
“What I valued most was his pragmatism. He didn’t defend the plan for the plan’s sake; he asked what the team actually needed and adjusted.”
That made him easy to partner with across functions and easy to trust.
Any team would be lucky to have Tim. I’d work with him again without hesitation.
People & HR Partner

Caroline Buchele
Director, People Business Partner – Pluralsight
My People Business Partner at Pluralsight
I had the opportunity to partner closely with Tim as his People Business Partner Director through some of Pluralsight’s most challenging moments.
What stood out most was how intentionally he cared for his people. In our work together on workforce planning, team design and difficult employee relations situations, he consistently prioritized doing right by people over what was simply convenient. That integrity in hard moments is exactly what makes him the kind of leader people want to work for.
“That integrity in hard moments is exactly what makes him the kind of leader people want to work for.”
Tim is a skilled product design leader, but what I can speak to most is the human being behind the title. He brought genuine care to every difficult conversation we navigated together. In my experience, leaders who truly treat people as people can be rare, but Tim fully embodies that leadership quality.
I would work with Tim again in an instant and highly recommend him to any organization looking for a leader who gets the work done and takes care of people while doing it.
Clients, Crucial Networking (2002-2017)

Kevin Martin
Singer and Founding Member, Candlebox
When we first decided to work with Tim, our expectations were quite high. We had seen a rapid change in the way that bands were using their web pages for social networking and we wanted to make sure we were riding the same wave.
“We never heard a ‘no, we can’t do that.’”
Tim made it simple to incorporate that into our site seamlessly and made our site so amazing that our audience chose to stay on our page rather than visit our social networking pages. We never heard a ‘no, we can’t do that.’ I would give him 5 stars in every aspect of business. The best team for any business out there. I even made my wife use him for her business.

In the modern world it is imperative that you have a great web team as part of your team. Tim has been working with us now for nearly 10 years and that says a lot. I think the big difference with Tim is he really loves his job and wants to do a great job for us every time. From functionality to all the creative aspects, he is always on the cutting edge and an absolute joy to work with.

Cyndi Roberts
Owner, Cyndi Roberts Yoga
Most importantly, Tim taught me that a truly successful web site is a living, breathing thing, and that you get out what you put in. We consistently review analytics reports, heat maps, scroll maps and click maps together. This data irrefutably shows what’s working and what’s not.
“Nearly 100% of my clients contact me after visiting my web site, and they all tell me they arrived via a Google search.”
My web site is doing such a good job bringing in high-quality leads that I recently cancelled the local advertising I was doing, saving me $2,388 per year.”

Natalia Rose
Clinical Nutritionist, Owner & Creator, Detox The World
There are not enough good things I can say about Tim to fully do his service to me justice. He has not only been a genius designer and programmer but he is so easy to work with and communicate with.
I have used him and his company for about 6 years now. He is always on-time and on-budget, sometimes less expensive than expected as he always over-delivers on his time, which is very unusual.
“He always over-delivers on his time, which is very unusual.”
He has never been petty about ‘after’ support. He is thorough and will back all his efforts up with more time if needed.
In terms of design, I had a broad idea of how I wanted the site and community to function and look, but in the execution he made every aspect we’d developed better. I had some big visions I hadn’t seen done before on other sites, and he came up with really innovative ways to do those things. I wouldn’t use anyone else.
He is solid, responsible, honest, exceptionally gifted and so pleasant to work with! He gets my highest endorsement!

Dale Pavlik
Owner, DJP Design, LLC
I chose to work with Tim because of his philosophy, chemistry, reputation and quality of work and it has been an absolute pleasure. His pursuit of excellence and attitude about life surprised and delighted me.
“He loves his craft and, like myself, is proud to be a nice guy.”
What surprised me the most was how effortless the process was. I entrusted him with arguably my most important marketing tool and he exceeded any and all expectations.
What pleases me the most is what visitors have to say about my site: awesome, amazing, impressive, beautiful, adjectives we all strive for professionally.
His efforts and results far exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t be more pleased with or proud of the finished product. The journey with him from start to finish was fun, challenging in a great way, refreshing and rewarding. I truly hope to refer more business his way as a way of showing my appreciation for all he’s done for me and DJP Design.
